Ruwi is the Co-founder and CEO of Mitra BUMMA, a company providing technical, management, and investment services for indigenous peoples’ corporations. Mitra BUMMA is a women-led initiative in Tanah Papua, working with Indigenous Peoples groups to create community-run enterprises that protect 100,000ha of rainforest while supporting local economies and tribal governance. Mitra BUMMA is a recipient of the 16th UNDP Equator Prize in 2025. Ruwi is also Co-founder and Chair of the Governing Board of Komunitas Menoken Membumi Membumma, a foundation for collective organizing and social-cultural preparation towards BUMMA development. In 2019-2024, Ruwi was Head of the Lifespace Programme in Samdhana Institute. He is a 2012 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee.
