Biography

Tri is a seasoned development professional whose career bridges anthropology, forest conservation, and civil society advocacy. With a BSc in Forest Conservation from IPB, an MSc in Rural Development from the University of Sussex, and a PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Indonesia, Tri brings a rare blend of academic rigor and grassroots experience. His doctoral research on the Utan Kayu Community and Indonesia’s broader struggle for freedom reflects a deep commitment to justice, knowledge production, and transformative social change. Tri has held leadership roles in prominent Indonesian and international NGOs such as The Nature Conservancy, TIFA Foundation, LATIN, LP3ES, SKEPHI, and WALHI, while also contributing to collaborative research with institutions like CIFOR, ICRAF, ORSTOM, and P3EA-UI.

Now a senior associate with Oxford Policy Management Ltd (OPML), he remains engaged with international development through work with US and UK Aid, as well as organizations like Palladium and TNC. Outside of policy and research, Tri nurtures a lifelong passion for biodiversity and local entrepreneurship through the Tanduk Rusa Institute, an ecopreneurship venture dedicated to ornamental plants, particularly Platycerium species.
