Parallel to the struggle of the Indigenous People in Southern Bukidnon to assert their rights to self-governance and to their ancestral territories is also the day-to-day struggle of the memeritan to tend to household chores, send their kids to school and to ensure that food is available for their families, these among others.

But for these Menuvu women from CADT 206 in Southern Bukidnon, women should now take more active roles in the community– even taking the lead in defending their communities. The women have formed their organizations in their own communities and set their vision and mission in the next 3 years.

For mothers like Jeanie Rose Olaloy, 27 years old, a leader of the NNMTI - Neumpung Ne Memeritan Te Inlangsang- she does not confine herself in domestic roles, because she is currently completing her senior high school this year. Jeanie Rose travels to another town daily to attend to her classes.

As memeritan of the Menevu Kirenteken, their vision is to set a good example for the next generation, to continue enriching the tribe’s indigenous tradition and practices.
