Ahmad Kusworo has been involved in environmental campaigns, sustainable livelihood projects, and community forestry initiatives since the 1990s. Ahmad graduated from the University of Lampung, Indonesia (1995) and received his PhD in anthropology at the Australian National University (2005). Ahmad worked a researcher at ICRAF, the World Agroforestry Centre until 2000. Following this, he worked at the WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society) and the WWF (World Wildlife Fund). From 2007, he served as National Coordinator for UNDP Indonesia andas national coordinator of an AusAID/ANU project promoting multi-disciplinary research on good governance in Indonesia. Since 2009, Ahmad has been a part of FFI, first as coordinator of their Kalimantan program, and currently as Community Forest and Climate Advisor. In his current capacity, his work focuses on developing community forest REDD projects across Indonesia, and combines this with policy engagement at the subnational and national levels on climate change mitigation.
